We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior/Lead BI Engineer to join our team. This individual will play a crucial role in building and maintaining our business intelligence infrastructure, with a focus on PowerBI and SQL.
In addition to technical expertise, the ideal candidate should possess strong leadership qualities and have the potential to grow into a managerial role in the future.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and understand business needs for reporting and analytics.
- Develop and maintain reports, dashboards, and visualizations using PowerBI to provide actionable insights to business users.
- Design and implement new dimensions and fact tables in the Data Warehouse, adhering to star schema and data warehousing best practices.
- Perform data modeling and schema design in PowerBI, ensuring efficient and accurate representation of data for reporting purposes.
- Perform data analysis, data profiling, and data cleansing to ensure the accuracy and reliability of the data.
- Collaborate with data engineers to integrate new data sources into the Data Warehouse.
- Work closely with the data engineering team to ensure the availability, reliability, and scalability of the BI infrastructure.
- Administer PowerBI environment, including user access management, deployment process, row-level and object-level security.
- Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve any issues related to PowerBI reports, data refresh, and overall performance.
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies in business intelligence and data warehousing.
- Mentor and provide guidance to more junior members of the team, fostering their technical growth and development.
Qualification
- Proven experience (5+ years) working as a BI Engineer or a similar role, with a strong focus on PowerBI and SQL.
- Expertise in building and maintaining PowerBI reports and dashboards, including data preparation, visualization, and report publishing.
- In-depth understanding of data warehousing concepts and star schema design.
- Proficiency in SQL for data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) tasks.
- Experience with data modeling in PowerBI, ensuring data accuracy and performance optimization.
- Familiarity with PowerBI administration tasks, including user access management, dataset refresh, and deployment processes.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen eye for detail and data accuracy.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment.
- Leadership potential and the ability to mentor and guide junior team members.
Good to have
- Experience with migrating legacy Data Warehouses to the Cloud.
- Experience with AWS cloud services, in particular: Redshift, Athena, S3, Glue.
- Experience with dbt.
- Experience with Python.
